We have one UK based program coordinator; eight overseas programmers and two UK based system analysers. We have built in excess of one hundred different programs, ranging from fully automated customs controlled warehouses to simple on line bespoke rates analysers for individual clients. Notwithstanding the above, our latest audited balance sheet reflects a zero software asset. This is because as far as we are concerned, once a program is built, it is outdated and has very little asset value. We therefore simply build new modern programs in the latest language and ascribe all of the costs involved to our overhead. ![]() In fact, we are now capable of sitting down with a client, discussing his entire logistical I.T. requirement and making available to him a system that he approves of within a few weeks. What is more, we do not charge him for it and simply include it as part of our overall package. In addition, the system will be bespoke to that client and of far more use to him than the general add-on options that our competitors offer. When one of our Company Directors was recently asked why we give free software to our clients, he simply answered, "Because we can". Our rates are set and cover all of our costs and still show a good profit. Our costs include our I.T. software so we have no requirement to charge for such services. As far as we are concerned, they are just part of our standard service and as a result, they are enticing more and more clients to join us. In the last six months alone, our business has increased by 50% and is projected to increase at the same rate for the next twelve months at least. Our systems are technologically at the cutting edge. We have profit. We have growth at the same rate of profit and we have a good efficient staff. Why should we change it? As the wise man asked, "If it isn't broken, why mend it?" |
